  1. **** HFS fix for Area Codes Desk accessory ****

  3.  ╥Area Code╙ is a valuable DA for use on your Terminal Software
  4. disk. It allows you to immmediately know where in the heck in the
  5. country you╒re calling so you can stay one jump ahead of the
  6. phone company. Unfortunately, if you use Area Codes on an HFS
  7. disk, it has trouble finding the file, ╥Area Code File╙, which
  8. should be on the disk whose system has ╥Area Code╙ DA installed.

  10.   Here╒s how to fix that:

  12. First, you╒ll need a resource editor, like ResEdit.
  13.  
  14. Fire up ResEdit, and open the DA ╥Area Codes╙.
  15.  Youll see a ╥STR#╙ resource in the DA; it╒s resource ID should
  16. be -16000. Open this resource, and you should see a box showing
  17. the string ╥Area Code File╙. All you have to do is enter the 
  18. exact file path name in this box.
  19.  For example, let╒s say you have ╥Area Code File╙ on the desktop
  20. of a disk you call ╥Comm Disk╙. The pathname would then be:
  21. ╥Comm Disk:Area Code File╙. You may also put ╥Area Code File╙ into
  22. a folder, just follow the HFS convention:
  23. ╥Volume Name:Folder Name:File Name╙.

  25. Area Code DA still works as is under MFS.
